The Moose Jaw Branch of SGS will host Rich Pickering, a local resident of Moose Jaw. He will speak to us about the significance the newly named “Tatawaw Park” and the area around Moose Jaw, had for the many First Nations and Metis peoples. He will also touch on the fur trade trail system in the park and some early Moose Jaw history.

Scott Hellings Chair of the local Heritage Committee, is passionate about local history and being able to preserve and share it. He will give us a history and overview of the committee, their mission and projects they are involved in.

Stephanie Genes, MJPL Archives technician, will share with us what is available in our local Archives and how it can assist us in our own genealogy research. Examples being newspapers, Henderson Directories etc.

Barb Pacholick is the City Editor and a journalist of the Regina Leader Post. She has spent over 30 years covering SK courts and crime and co-authored three books related to SK crime stories. As an historian she will share some of her stories and passion.

Janie Fries, a local branch member, will share her story and journey in uncovering the Military history in her family. She will provide lots of tips and resources available to everyone.
